چکیده
The Robot World Cup Initiative (RoboCup) is an international joint project to promote science and technology on intelligence robotics, AI, and related field with specific goal of building fully humanoid robot that can win human world cup champion by 2050, and to apply technologies developed in this activity to socially significant issues such as rescue, and for next generation industries. This idea inspired the imagination of people in the world and it grown to be one of the largest research areas in multi-agent robotics. This paper discuss extension of RoboCup activity for education and edutainment. Specifically, RoboCup initiate a new project called RoboCup Jr. that aims at promotion of engineering education and popularization of robotics using RoboCup. RoboCup Jr. league will be created to meet diverse needs of the education field, and a series of organizational frameworks are proposed to develop a network of social, personnel, educational, and technical infrastructures to assist those who are interested in RoboCup Jr. activity.

(RoboCup-2000) was held from 27 August to 3 September 2000 at the Melbourne Exhibition Center in Melbourne, Australia. In total, 83 teams, consisting of about 500 people, participated in RoboCup-2000, and about 5000 spectators watched the events. RoboCup-2000 showed dramatic improvement over past years in each of the existing robotic soccer leagues (legged, small size, mid size, and simulation)...
متن کاملFrom Games to Applications: Component Reuse in Rescue Robots
Component-based software engineering is useful for embedded applications such as robotics. However, heavyweight component systems such as CORBA overstrain the ressources available in many embedded systems. Here, a lightweight component-based approach is used to implement the system software of the so-called CubeSystem, CubeOS. Since 1998, CubeOS and its component system have been successfully u...
متن کاملChildren Learning From Team Robotics - RoboCup Junior 2000 Educational Research
RoboCup Junior (Jr) is a division of the international RoboCup initiative. It involves children participating in various competitive and cooperative robot challenges. Experience at three international venues shows that these challenges generate great excitement and interest from both children and adults. We question whether there is any educational value in these challenges, and this report pre...

During RoboCup'99 in Stockholm, we arranged the rst RoboCup Jr. Here, the aim was to allow children to get hands-on experience with robotics, and for this purpose we set up a LEGO Mindstorms robot soccer game for children. We developed the user-guided behavior-based approach in order to allow non-expert users to develop their own robots in an easy and fast manner. Indeed, using this approach, c...
